First, let me say that I have no particular desire to bash MSNBC, largely
due to the fact that they just hired me. But...
The use of CSS on the site seems to be pretty superficial. Tables, tables
everywhere. CSS only seems to be used where convenient, to get over the
limitations of some of the krufty, nested table design, and for text
formatting. I wouldn't consider either of these to be really noteworthy
CSS uses. I would have considered some earnest CSS usage, say for the
navigation bar down the left hand side, to have been a win, but sadly the
designers decided to fall back on mid-90's nested tables designs.
Not to mention, the site still doesn't really play nicely with non
IE/Windows environments (like Camino on my Mac, for instance).
Pretty disappointing for CSS nerds like myself, but honestly unsurprising
when you consider what MSNBC's core demographic must be...
