This thread is a common one -- the appropriate base font size discussion
has been debated heatedly many times, without reaching a commonly
agreed-upon consensus. The points of merit in these threads tend to be:
* The common <font size="2> size in designs of yore roughly equates to
font-size: 82% (or 76%, etc.)
* There is a wide variety of people who find this font size difficult to
use.
* The default font size is less commonly used, but can address the needs of
users who find 82%/76% to be too small.
* Sites designed with relative font sizes give users the ability to choose
a font size that is comfortable for them, but this ability is not always
apparent to the general webbing public.
* Font size switchers within web pages tend to be more readily identified
by web users than the internal font-sizing features of the individual
browsers.
Please feel free to peruse the resources on the Wiki (
http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=FontSize ), but since this thread is
moving from the debate stage into the accusation stage, we should probably
disengage...
Thanks,
MikeL
