Just did notice the IE5Mac problem as well. But it is not the 
'height:1%' that is doing it (IE mac doesn't see that rule).

What more, the first sample box is not centered in this browser.
If I comment out all occurrences of {overflow:hidden}, it works nicely 
in IE mac. I further narrowed it down to the overflow declaration on 
..sidebox and .boxhead h2.
