duplicated characters in IE 6 Win2k (SOLVED)

This is obviously a very strange bug in IE, the solution was actually
presented by Cornelia Lange, thanks.

I hadn't tried using a comment before, only the &nbsp;  which didn't work.
However, inserting a comment just following the closing p tag, solved the
problem, thanks Cornelia.
