great looking css sites

I'll second that.  

Looking at single and commercial CSS sites, my personal favorite is Adaptive Path [1], designed by
Douglas Bowman [2]. Douglas's personal site is just as inspiring, and his Zen Garden contribution
[3] remains the best, although the competition is getting tougher all the time.

More recent great looking designs include Fat Beehive [4], discovered via Zeldman.

Going back to collections, built for the future [5] has a diverse and growing collection of sites
authored in valid xhtml 1.0 strict or 1.1.
