Hmmm... its an interesting question that I hadnt considered before.
Having had my attention drawn to it, I think what I will try next is:
* Include a 'printer-friendly version' link which will bring up the
same page with a switched style (server side, so it isnt dependant on
JS use).
* Use CSS to add a header to the page saying something like 'this is
how the page will appear on your printer - using modern methods of
separation <blahblahblah> we no longer need to have a separate page for
printing a website page, so feel free to click the print button here,
or on any page on this site, for a beautiful layout.' (the header, of
course, wont print)
I think the question that leaves is - how long do need to keep having a
print-friendly link like that on our sites - how long before enough
sites are using enough css that Jo(e) Average starts expecting web
pages to print 'properly'?
