Vertical css 'side-tab' style menus using nested unordered lists-nearly...

Sent by Russell Baldwin on 13 September 2003 08:08

Hi, I'm new to this list so I hope no serious breaches of
protocol...anyway... We have tried to create a different way of using nested
unordered lists in a compact vertical menu with a single level of submenus.
The best way I could think to describe it was side tab menus. Doesn't look
very tab like at present but we are testing out the concept. The good thing
about this design is no fixed fonts and so it very is fluid, you can pack a
lot of menu into a small screen space, the user always see all the top menus
and at least one sub menu and list mark up doesn't change per page (body tag
is used) so you can use server side/or other includes for your menus.

Rather than fill up good space here, we have a few problems with certain
browsers. A complete description and a test web site, with the CSS and
BrowserCam shots of problems browsers is available at:
http://www.dpmotorsport.com/test/menu1.html

We could really use some help in fixing this. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance,

Russ Baldwin
