DIV, Width and Scrolling question

Hmmm. Does that mean there is not a way to limit 100% width fixed containers to the width of the
window (using 100% width to maintain the background color beyond the content)?

What if you need a fixed container (say a header that you want to remain visible while scollling)
with a left border (or margin) of say 100 pixels (to lign up the headers background colors with two
different background color elements that will scroll underneath) but still need to be able to
text-align "center" in the remaining space to the edge of the window and not center to the extended
(50 pixel) width beyond the container (and therfore run out of the window)?

Does that make since or do you need a visual.
