I hope so too. I'm a beginner too and I've been trying to get caught up as
fast as I can. I've seen a lot of information on the web about CSS-driven
design and I'm committed to learning this technique and making it work for
me.

So far, I've taken a slow but steady approach.

I "borrowed" some code and design ideas from other sites (mainly, The
Narrator) and put my own weblog into it. Then, after making some sense out
it all, I made subtle changes to the formatting and positioning while
running some tests on IE, NN, and Opera.

I also got some great encouragement from Dan Benjamin, Shirley Kaiser and
the PhotoDude. Thanks.

So far, so good. I'm pretty happy with my progress.

And now it's on to "liquid".

Me too. We'll both have to take the "Beginner's Track." :-)
