[css-d] Why specify Font-Family for every style?

Why do some sites list in their stylesheets the font-family again and again for almost every style
they use, even though it's exactly the same font attributes being specified. This is also applies to
font-sizes, colour etc.

Is there something I am not aware of that requires this i.e. a browser issue? I would have thought
it only necessary to specify this for the Body, Table, TD(depending on whether tables are being used
of course) and div tags?

Can someone help?

Jon
