RE: [css-d] New CSS2 Site - XHTML 1.0

Sent by Cheryl D. Wise on 18 April 2003 21:09

Speaking as a person who has a Cingular account I like the overall design
but have a problem using the site. I cannot read whatever is in the text
line under the Exclusive Online Offer box or any of the other text that size
on the page. Text won't resize in IE and on my laptop with 1400x1054 I can't
read 8px type even with reading glasses on.

Next, when I put in my cellphone number at first I was told it wasn't a
valid cellphone number. Then when I re-entered it with no spaces it took 3
minutes for me to get a usable login screen. I'm on a 1mps cable line. I
just discovered that the bookmark I had for my account login now gives me an
error page now. Putting in my zip code brought a usable page up in 40
seconds. The form wasn't usable until 35 seconds into that load time since
the white background wasn't loading and reading the text on the orange
striped background was a problem. Still seems to be an extremely wait
compared to other pages. Citibank's login comes up in less than 3 seconds.

Site is very slow for me on a 1mps cable running XP Pro, IE 6. I also looked
in Opera to try and get the size up where I could read it but alas the small
text appears to be inside of images so having a minimum font size didn't
help the site's usability. It loaded faster in Opera 7 and the menu worked.

When I tried to look at the stylesheets using IE's list stylesheet extension
I received a ton of script errors wanting to open launch Visual Studio to
correct them. Seems like you have some problems there as others have
mentioned in the javascript.

Tried validating the CSS and was told by the validator that I needed to
validate the XHTML first which I tried and received a laundry list of errors
there. Which may explain some of the load time problems. Definitely isn't
XHTML 1.0 Strict.
