[css-d] Some IE weirdness

Sent by Nik Schramm on 18 February 2002 09:09

I'm struggling with a rather complicated fold-out menu I made:

http://www.stiftung-noah.de/test.html

As you can see, the menu works (more or less) fine in NN6, but it acts
mighty strange in IE6:

When one of the submenus is opened and one of the items therein is
rolled over, the positions of the items shift upwards.

This page is actually the output of a .NET generated XML/XSL
transformation and it never did this in the offline HTML dummy I built
before, even though both pages use the exact same stylesheet (compare
the offline html version: http://www.stiftung-noah.de/nav.html).

The only difference between the pages is that the offline version has an
xml declaration (putting IE into quirks mode as I have recently learned
here, but that's not the culprit - besides: I want standards mode) and
the fact that the menu structure in the offline version is created in
javascript, ie the DIVs with class="menuitemopen" have their content
written dynamically. But how could any of this have such an effect ?

Anybody have any idea what is going on ? I'd appreciate any help
whatsoever, because right now I'm a bit lost.
