Re: [css-d] This is NOT a table... it's a GRID

Sent by rudy on 3 February 2003 04:04

the thing in your desk, lonnie -- and i have several, i love them, i'm a
compulsive organizer -- isn't a GRID, it's a LIST

the fact that the various subcontainers "wrap" so that the container has an
overall rectangular shape is coincidental to the function of the container

a long container with only one "row" of subcontainers would be just peachy,
and it would work just as well as a rectangular one in terms of being able
to hold various items, provided of course that it isn't too long for the
desk drawer

in an effort to bring this thread back round to the topic of css, i would
love to see the css for visually splitting a list in two and presenting it
this way:

    * one       * five
    * two       * six
    * three     * seven
    * four      * eight

simple concept, right? see it every day, right? semantically, just a list,
right?

separate the presentation from the content, they told me...

so, what's the presentation?

and after you're done, show me a list split into three
