Hello,
I haven't slept all night. This night, I created a CSS Alphabet (that's what I dared have called
it...)
The page:
http://www.literarymoose.info/=/test-suite/alphabet.html
Please see all letters! CSS only. It degrades well in text browsers, can be used in limited
contexts. tested in Opera7/Moz1.3/IE6. But things still are dependent in some way....
ADVANTAGES:
1. Historically valid. Medieval monks did the same with goose (not moose) feathers and "analog"
ink.
:]
2. Might be useful for styling navigational areas WITHIN absolutely positioned areas.
3. Wonderfully curvy. Very un-box-like.
4. Has a potential for replacing certain images (see the Norwegian letters to see what I mean :)
5. Pure CSS. No borders whatsoever
6. Minimal markup. CSS degrades well.
DISADVANTAGES:
1. Rely on absolute positioning, which isn't always the best way to do things.
2. Heavy reliance on fonts. Although generic fonts may be good, it is bound to work really well
only
with popular fonts, unless one does not design things in a cramped way (as yours truly did, a moose
of a really small brain). So, fonts - but it's all about fonts! I know, it's a lame excuse...

I'd be grateful for comments.....
