Thank you very much for your feedback.  I've scanned the links you
offered up, and then some more that followed, and then (you get the
idea).. ;-)

One thing that stuck with me from the reading is that color theory does
not address luminosity or saturation , leaving a very important point
wide open:  If the background is a semi-transparent ( light ) color, I
presume the text color should be as dark as possible ( black ? ).  Or
would a dark complimentary color give a better reading contrast in
theory?

I'll look at your book next time I'm at Borders.  Sounds like one I
should have.
