Note that those image links work by styling the anchors as block
elements. (As Rijk said, Opera 6 doesn't do background images on inline
elements.) Opera also didn't handle the background image specified in
the :hover rule, and instead made the links' backgrounds disappear when
moused over. We got around that problem by loading the active state
images as the background of the div container for each link --
basically a background background -- which makes it appear as if Opera
is performing the swap properly.
