[css-d] template help: modified 3-col layout (lazyweb)

Sent by Brad Lauster (lists) on 25 November 2002 21:09

Hi!
I'm having some trouble with this (caffeine overload?), so I wonder if
someone might be willing to share their css for a template that looks
like this (monospaced font required):

*************************
*             *         *
*             ***********
*             *[   ][   ]
*             *[   ][   ]
*             *[   ][   ]
*             *[   ][   ]
*             *[   ][   ]
*             *[   ][   ]
*************************

The idea is that the left (widest) column is liquid and the rest are
fixed width. On the right, there is an area that "spans" the two
columns it rests on top of.

I guess I don't care how the effect is achieved - floats or positioning
are fine, I just don't want any of the columns to drop down below the
others when the browser isn't wide enough - I'm still learning to
"think in css" so suggestions on good solutions to that problem would
also be appreciated.

Thanks,
--Brad
