[css-d] Can pseudo-classes be compounded?

Sent by Bob Sawyer on 21 November 2002 22:10

Is this possible? If not, is there something that would do the same thing?

.msgstarter:after:first-letter { ... }

I have an image assigned with class "msgstarter". It's floated left at the
beginning of the paragraph. I want the first letter of the paragraph AFTER
the image to be styled with some nice drop-cap styling or somesuch. The
trick is, the paragraph is pulled from a database. Wrapping it in a <p> tag
goofs up any <blockquotes> that might be within the paragraph, and <span>
doesn't seem to work. <div> would goof up as well, adding a line break after
the image.

See what I'm working with at http://www.bobsawyer.com/

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bob Sawyer
