you can also use an normally invisible (except to
screen readers and lynx) 'skip navigation' or 'skip to
main content' link at the very top of a page.  i find
that really handy when i use lynx.  since i always put
navigation before content (i have my reasons for that)
i always provide a 'skip navigation' link.
