Re: [css-d] Top and bottom margin and padding problems

Sent by Ellen Herzfeld on 14 November 2002 00:12

Hello,

My first message on this list was posted just when the list was down
so I don't know if the absence of any reply is only because no one
has anything to say about my problem or because no one has read it...
I'm replying to my own message so it will be linked in the archive.

As I wrote, I don't know it this problem has already been discussed
here but I didn't find an answer in the archive.

Two problems actually:

One in IE5.0Win where the top padding of an outer div is not respected.

And one in all the browsers I've tested where the bottom margin of
the inner div is not respected if the outer div's bottom margin is
set to 0. If it's set to even 0.1em the margin reappears in all
browsers except IE5.0Win.

I would like to know if there is a way to avoid this 0.1em fix, and
if anyone has a fix for the top and bottom problems in IE5.0Win.

The problems and the fix can be seen on my test pages at
http://ansible.xlii.org/public_test/index.html

Thanks for any help.

Ellen
