Well, damn! Why is Internet Explorer going on and changing source code on me?

That explains the 'unknowns' ;)

Could Microsoft have possible tried *any* harder to come up with obscure
bugs like this? "hey...for the hell of it, let's just add some extra
space to these floats...that will really mess with them there 'designery'
types."

Thanks alot michael. This is a real useful layout. It's pixel-perfect in
Mozilla (which is a lot to say for a CSS layout!) It also has the bonus
of actually being editable in Dreamweaver.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to throw in the towel in on this one and
use a table. Yea, I hate to do it...but since everyone in our building is
using IE5.5...{sigh}.
