Well, they might be -entitled- to it, but it's simply not possible to
deliver *everything* to every user. We have a responsibility to offer the
actual content to everybody, but the idea that developers should describe
every detail of every image used in a document is absurd.

What are we supposed to do, include a 12K longdesc for each photo outlining
every little detail from the lighting conditions & depth of field to whether
or not the girl jogging in the background is wearing a wedding band & how
long it's been since the grass was mowed?

That's all part of the experience of seeing a photo, but it's simply not
germane to the subject.
