Find an old powermac 8500 for $200, add a G4 card from Sonnet for another
$200 and OSX for $120 and you're there. Oh, you meant new. ;{>}
I see eMacs advertised for $1100; if you want portability, too, then try an
iBook for $1200. Basically, any mac shipping today runs OSX and VirtualPC.
Obviously, the faster the mac the better, but I get passable performance
out of an old iBook, and all the current models are faster than it is.
If you're OK with tinkering with old machines, check the Sonnet processor
upgrades. They list which upgrades are OSX compatible (some aren't). Then
you find a cheap machine that you can stuff the upgrade into and you're
set. You'll want a minimum of 256M RAM and probably 20GB minimum of HD
space for what you're trying to do and, as is usual with those items, more
is better.
