Well obviously I've no control over that. You'll either see the text as I see
it, or somewhat bolder. Either way it's perfectly legible. As most visitors to
the site will not be computer geeks, they are unlikely to start comparing the
rendering in FF and IE.
From my viewpoint I'm glad to have found out why there was the difference, and
to know that it's not some quirk in my CSS. There is no 'issue'.
