That's certainly what we're doing, although I'd say a lot of Zope/Plone
installations are using Squid in front of Zope as well.

If you want to use Apache in front of Zope, just do google on 'apache
rewrite' and 'virtualhostmonster' - the latter is the thing you'll need on
the Zope side.  We have a couple apaches that map to about 20 or so domains
on the backend (single) Zope server.

Greg,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this, but Zope is typically
deployed behind Apache, so one can obtain the functionality that I
think you're referring to (one IP address, multiple domains).
